Methyltetrahydrophthalic Anhydride MTHPA (CAS No. 11070-44-3, EC No. 234-290-7) is a cycloaliphatic liquid anhydride hardener synthesized for curing bisphenol A, bisphenol F, and novolac liquid epoxy resins. Exhibiting high anhydride group content (≥ 40.50%), ultra-low viscosity (≤ 50 mPa·s at 25°C for JH701), and a low crystallizing point (≤ -15°C), this MTHPA chemical provides excellent processability, long working pot life, low exothermic heat during crosslinking, and high dielectric reliability in cured thermosets.
Supplied by Huizhou Juhui Materials Co., Ltd. (Models: JH701 and JH706), our MTHPA curing agent features low free acid content (≤ 0.50%), minimizing side reactions and CO2 gas evolution during curing. Fully compliant with EU RoHS 2.0 and REACH SVHC regulations.

Recommended Stoichiometric Ratio: Typically, 75 to 85 parts by weight of MTHPA curing agent (PHR) are formulated per 100 parts of standard Bisphenol A Liquid Epoxy Resin (EEW ≈ 182-192 g/eq).
Accelerator Selection: Tertiary amines (e.g., BDMA, DMP-30) or imidazoles (e.g., 2-E4MZ) are recommended at 0.5 - 1.5 PHR to adjust gel time and cure speed.
Typical Cure Profiles: 80°C - 100°C for 2 - 4 hours (Primary Gel/Cure) ± 120°C - 150°C for 3 - 5 hours (Post Cure for maximum Tg and mechanical properties).
Dry-type transformers, high-voltage capacitors, instrument transformers (CT/PT), ignition coils, resistors, and outdoor epoxy switchgears.

Packaging Specifications: Standard sealed 220 kg iron drums (17.6 MT per 20'FCL with pallets), 1000 kg IBC tote containers, or bulk ISOTANK container loading.
Storage & Moisture Sensitivity: Store in tightly closed original containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse (recommended storage temperature: 15°C - 25°C). Contact with moisture/humid air increases free acid, leading to performance deterioration. Keep away from direct sunlight, heat, and open flames.
Shelf Life: 12 months under sealed, un-opened storage conditions from the date of manufacture.
Global Environmental & Safety Compliance (PONY Tested):

The main technical distinction is viscosity. JH701 provides an ultra-low viscosity (≤ 50 mPa·s at 25°C), facilitating rapid wetting and bubble release in vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) and deep-section transformer potting. JH706 (≤ 80 mPa·s) is optimized for automated filament winding, composite pipe manufacture, and general electrical encapsulation.
Free acid consists of dicarboxylic acids generated by hydrolysis. Excessive free acid increases mix viscosity, accelerates premature room-temperature gelling, and generates gas voids during crosslinking, which reduces the electrical breakdown strength and thermal stability of the cured resin matrix.
If stored at prolonged low temperatures below its crystallizing point (≤ -15°C), partial solidification may occur. Place the sealed container in a warm room or hot room at 40°C - 50°C until completely re-melted, then mix thoroughly before use. This physical phase change does not affect the anhydride group content or chemical reactivity.
